Woodbine Creek, 6"x8", oil on panel, © David Boyd, Jr
For years I have missed painting this creek down the road from where I grew up. Just a trickle of a creek with the beautiful azaleas. Spring is early this year, I am usually on a trip when they bloom.

Again, in the same spot in Meredith's garden, just a bit to the right of the corner of the house. It was snowing blossoms.

I am obsessed with this little shed in my neighbors yard. PLaying around with an old limited color palette, too.

Whachulookinat, Large

Whachulookinat, 24"x24", oil on museum wrap, $1200, © David Boyd, Jr.
Did this in a demo last week... obviously I am a little behind.

Getting ready to hit the blog with lots of chickens and studies. I am off to the Georgia Coast for some sea kayaking and painting, the Costa Rice for a week of painting then back to the coast for a paint out. I hope to keep things going on the blog while on the coast, but Costa Rica is another deal altogether. Not much internet in the could forest.

Enjoy the coming posts and I will be back soon...

Another chicken to add to the collection... I like these smaller studies, but I can't wait to knock one of these out with a palette knife!

At Last... Home

Home, 24x30, oil on museum wrap, NFS

Had to hold this piece until was published, so now the cat is out of the bag. This is the front porch of the house I grew up in and was used as an illustration for an article on Southern Hospitality.

Whachulookinat

Whachulookinat, 12x12, oil on museum wrap, on hold
A friend went to a chicken show and came back with the most amazing photos of the chickens. They each had so much personality and character. She is allowing me to paint portraits from the images. I am calling the series Chicken Heads. I will not be selling them until the series is completed. I hope to have a 12"x12" and a 24"x24" version of each. Keep watching!
