Abstraction: Savannah Morning 032

I love what happens when you squint at a landscape and it all gels together and forms those abstract shapes of color. I didn't really do that with this piece exactly, I really just wanted to use the same color masses and arrange them in an interesting way.

After the Storm 027

Most of the recent landscapes have been a manifestation of my imagination and it's desire to have open window weather." I am lucky to live in a location where I can see great distances without much of an obstructed view. I love to watch the weather roll in and roll out and I am very much looking froward to the green season...flowers, grass, billowing clouds. For now, they hide in my head and come out when I need them to.

Upside Down 023

I love to paint mushrooms for some weird reason. Fungus is great. They cast an interesting shadow and their body shapes a re very diverse. Thus far, their colors have been pretty earthy, I hope to find some wild colored ones soon, maybe when spring gets here!

Cloudy Sunset 021

The cold rainy weather provided great inspiration for this painting, even better, I could paint it from my studio window!!

Non Objective Abstraction 020

I had some leftover paint on my palette after painting the avocados, and I have made plenty of "mud," so instead of scraping it into the trash, why not put it on a canvas?I have fallen under the spell of Sally Schisler and her knife work, so I decide to give it a spin. I am pleased with the result, however this piece is non-objective.

'Da Pears 017

Very happy with this pair of pears. I enjoy the contrast of the colors and the warmth of the background.

A Cup a Day 014

Pieces like these remind me of how uncomfortable drawing from life makes me. This is a tell tale sign that I must spend more time drawing!

Four in the Distance 011

Small study of a tobacco field in Kentucky. I loved the cedar by the road and the four others in the distance. Beautiful country. Lots of tobacco fields.

Oranges 009

I love the look of the warm oranges on the cool gray background. I am working with the brush again, due mostly to the size constraints of the smaller canvas. I am experimenting with bright brushes which is a split from my filberts I loved so. I did knock this one around a bit with the palette knife when I was done.
