Savannah Morning 031

You may recognize this from a pic I posted while in Savannah. It was a partly cloudy morning and like most Savannah mornings, the air was heavy and hung like a wet t-shirt over the landscape. I pulled of President Street on my way out to Tybee to catch this one. To the left of it was President Street and to the right was some huge industrial complex spewing smoke. I got several pictures form this spot I hope to use later...

Brown Bottle and 029

While I was in Savannah I found several old bottles to add to my still life collection. This one had a great shape too it and was a wonderful orange brown color. I could wait to get it home and use it. This is a new attempt for me, the painting of glass. I was very pleased with the outcome.

Back to Basics 028

After a week off of painting, I thought I would ease back into it so as not to disappoint myself. I am back to brushes and palette knife, instead of straight up brushwork. I was happy with the outcome.

Field at Sunset 018

I am in that place where I am ready for spring to roll around! The use of pastel colors and green fields are coming from the imagination at full force. I am ready for some Georgia golf weather.

Hillside Oak 016

This is my first attempt at a small landscape with a palette knife. I am very pleased with the abstract quality of the piece. I look forward to doing more of these...

Town of Gay Water Tower 010

I painted this piece a few weeks back. It was one of my first attempts at a smaller square piece. It was done from a photo, the day I took the picture it was freezing and strangely windy. Not ideal for plein air. I was drawn to the similarity between the values in the tower and the passing clouds. If I paint from a photo, I love to do them upside down. This was one of them. A friend of mine who is a longtime resident of Gay informed my that before the lettering you see now, it actually read "TOWNOFGAY". Wish I had known that before I painted it.

Shitake 008

I have started to spend more time drawing from life, especially since it has been 15 degrees outside. I need to sharpen my observational and drawing skills. I love fungus, so what a great way to start. Look for me of these small pieces coming soon. I have about 7 pieces that I have done over my MLK holiday weekend, I will be adding them as the days go by and I go back to my day job.
