Had to hold this piece until was published, so now the cat is out of the bag. This is the front porch of the house I grew up in and was used as an illustration for an article on Southern Hospitality.
thanks, guys. I was quite happy with the overall feel of the piece. During a demo the other day, one of the attendees, a friend of mine i used to paint with, noticed that i paint a great deal from the perspective of a child. it was like getting punched in the stomach. that was so interesting to me because i always tell people that i paint what i covet, what i want but can't have, and most of them are from my childhood memories. i had never seen that before in my work, and it really rattled me. if you do look back at my work, many of them are from close to the ground.
Beautiful light and values.
ReplyDeleteLove the skew on the entry. Very beautiful.
