Out to Pasture 188

Found this old Chevy out in a field in Dover, TN. I got several great shots of it so there should be more paintings to come. I love this Chevy body style, it has appeared in my paintings several times before. I was very excited about this one when I started, but that quickly went away. This painting was easily the most frustrating piece ever! As usual, it came together with the last few strokes of the brush and made me proud. I will be sad to see this one go, love the square format, too.

  1. Wow - a great sense of light in this piece. I am in love with the back windshield. ( I find that my best pieces are the ones I wanted to throw away half way through and if I don't get that hate feeling at some point they don't seem to be as successful - not sure how that works).
    Happy painting!

  2. This is terrific. I love the light spilling over the hood. The texture in the grasses in great.

  3. Very nice composition and keen development of shifting light patterns. Your decision to give the grassy forefront more prominence in the composition works to soften the harshness and rigor and desolation of an old abandoned vehicle. In my youth even I remember one of these scenes; so commonplace in rural America.

  5. First off, love your work. My uncle owns Leatherwood Resort in Dover, TN. Small worlds seeing as how I live in the Chicago area. Again, love your work.
