Peach Halves, 106 SOLD

Well, after a week off, traveling to Paris and Memphis, TN for the 4th of July and a bout of food poisoning, I was up for a little painting. However, I forget how much you "forget" when you take that much time off. I found myself asking a lot of questions as I worked, it was not as automatic as usual, not to mention uncomfortable. I really feel like I need to go back and brush up on my fundamentals like light and shadow when you mix paint. Everything seems flat and has no natural form. Having not been formally trained to paint, these things come back to haunt you. At least I know what they are!!

  1. I've been told that not having any formal training can be a blessing. You are your own unique creation.

  2. The food poisoning doesn't sound like much fun, but I hope your trip went well otherwise.

It's amazing how quickly we can lose the groove when we stop painting for a while, but I like the result of this one and the struggle doesn't show in the final result. Sometimes I feel like formal training would have made my progression a lot easier as an arist, but the "aha" moments are still worth it.

  3. I like how it looks like little bits of paint are just falling into place to form the peach. Nice work.
